  • Clean, factory-style look: Tiny dash knob mounts neatly with main unit hidden behind the dash.

  • Stay in command anytime: Push the knob for manual override to stop sway or momentum fast.

Features to know about

Saves Space with Compact Knob: Mounts Behind the Dash

Most brake controllers stick out and take up knee room, but the Tow-Pro Trail tucks nearly everything behind the dash. All you see is a small knob on the console—just 9/16" wide and 1-7/8" long including the knob. It looks like a factory switch, not an add-on. That single knob handles it all: adjusting brake power, pressing manual override, and showing color-coded alerts as you drive.

Maintains Control on Rough Terrain: Off-Road Mode

Slow crawls through sand, mud, or steep grades can make towing unpredictable. The Tow-Pro Trail’s off-road mode gives you direct control over trailer braking no matter what your tow vehicle is doing. Set it light in soft terrain so the trailer doesn’t dig in, or turn it up on descents so it doesn’t push from behind. To activate, rotate the knob to 0, apply your brakes, then push down twice within one second—the LED glows green when it’s ready.

Delivers Smooth, Confident Stops: Proportional Brake Control

No jerky starts or stops here. A built-in 3-axis accelerometer senses your vehicle’s braking and sends an equal amount of power to the trailer brakes. Heavy pedal means strong braking; light pedal means gentle braking. It works with electric and electric-over-hydraulic systems on trailers with up to 3 axles (6 brake assemblies). The result is balanced braking that keeps everything steady and reduces wear on tires and pads.

Installs Fast with Plug-In Harness: Clean Factory Look

Splicing wires is a pain, so this setup skips that entirely. The included plug-and-play harness connects right into your tow port and the controller module. The main unit can mount anywhere within reach of the 3' cable—under trim panels or behind dash plastics—using screws, tape, or zip ties (not included). A universal mounting panel comes in the box for a clean finish that looks built in from day one.

Built Tough for Every Trip: Reliable Power and Safety Standards

The Tow-Pro Trail runs on 12V or 24V systems with an output range of 9V–32V and handles 25 amps continuous current. It meets UNECE R21 and FMVSS 201 safety standards for durability inside the cab. Once calibrated—about twenty normal brake applications—the LED shows solid blue, and you’re ready to tow with consistent performance wherever you go.

What is Proportional Braking?

Proportional braking means that your trailer brakes mimic your tow vehicle's brakes. If you slam on the brakes in your vehicle, your trailer brakes will activate with the same intensity; if you brake lightly, your trailer brakes lightly too. The trailer's braking is in proportion to your vehicle's braking. This saves wear and tear on the tires and the brakes on both your vehicle and trailer.

Super product! Easy to install and setu p.

by:

I wasn’t sure spending the extra money on this was necessary cause I had always been using the other style controls for ever and they worked fine. I bought this because of the limited leg room under my dash on my new rig. After installing this, not only did I have more refined braking control, I mounted the control knob where I didn’t have to hunch over to reach for adjustment or manual braking. And now the reason for buying it was just an added bonus.

by:

Just works very well.

by:

Worked well on our 2024 Bronco. Took a while to get in and run the wiring but overall it’s working well.

by:

Easy install and calibration. The correct product for my needs.

by:

The Redarc controller that I ordered to install in my Lexus GX460 was perfect! I ordered the Tow Pro Trail version. The harness to connect the factory trailer harness under the dash was the correct one for my Lexus. lling the controller that se are a little more work than installing the ones that hang under the dash, but well worth it!

Awesomeness... Thank you.. HELL YEH... Merry Christmas to All at etrailer

by:

Great workmanship and easy to install. I installed the main unit right below the steering wheel behind the panel per the video by redarc. If you install the dial where the 12v outlet plug is currently located, you can find another place to put your 12v port like i did. It was simple to adjust to my tandem axle trailer. Glad I purchased this instead of the more expensive factory controller.

by:

Easy install, works as it should. Happy with purchase

by:

Easy to install. And, with plug n play for the Bronco, once the trailer was hooked up it was ready for use.

by:

For my 2021 Gladiator with factory tow. Everything including specific harness and little round mount for the control knob to replace the 12v outlet was in the kit. Hardest part of install was learning how to open the dash panel. The controllor powered up and is working as expected on normal road driving. Very straight forward and no struggles.

by:

Installation was a breeze with the custom harness. Plug and play with all the electrical components. I adapted a marine surface mount 12 volt plug housing as a mounting solution for the control knob, eliminating the need for any drilling.

2025 Ford F250 weak trailer brake. Its a common problem with at least the 2025 models. I had it into the dealer 7 times under warranty for the weak trailer brakes and the dealer can't fix it. Its a Ford problem so I had to fix it myself. The RED44UR is the solution. If you are having weak trailer brakes on your 2023 to 2026 f250/f350 the Redarc RED44UR will probably solve your issue. It worked for me.

by:

Highly recommend!!

Installed in a
modified Tacoma, with a serious off-road trailer. I use this system camping / off-road 40+ nights per year, mostly in the Sierra Mts. I have blown 2 other brake systems which caused unsafe conditions. I had just a few hours to install the RedArc system before leaving on a trip. The truck specific plug and play setup was quick and easy with a very clean simple dash button. It has been dependable over the year.

Love it when you get the right parts, at the right price, at the right time.

by:

Excellent product. Updated from a Curt wireless Bluetooth controller. The installation of the Redarc is plug and play. No modifications of any kind required. Being able to manually set brake force and to operate the trailer brakes independently is just great. Highly recommend.

by:

Its great. Works just as advertised. The only gripe is that the provided switch slot is not the factory one for the frontier and it moves around. I ended up modifying the blank switch cover and using that instead, but overall a great kit. Wiring was easy with the provide harness for the frontier.

I always deal with etrailer , best prices , quality items , great fast shipping

Parts are perfect for my vehicle. Etrailer makes it too easy. Great comunication also.Plug and play just like advertised.

  • Differences Between the Redarc Tow Pro Trail and Elite
Norm, thanks for hanging out! Along with one fitting different brands of trucks the Trail and Elite are also different. The Tow Pro Trail # RED94UR is designed to be used primarily off-road, specifically engineered and tested for off-road adventures. The Tow-Pro Trail helps with challenging conditions like steep descents, mud, and sand, as well as providing smooth, safe braking for everyday hauling. The Elite # RED42CR also has off-road capabilities, but I'd the Trail is going to be...

  • Difference Between Redarc Tow-Pro Elite and Tow-Pro Trail Brake Controllers
Hey Shauna, We kit the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Brake Controller # RED75KR with the custom harness, so it is the same as The Redarc Tow-Pro Trail Brake Controller # RED94UR other than their physical appearance. I recommend going with whichever is cheaper at the time of purchase since pricing can change from day to day.

  • Can A 12v Redarc Brake Controller Be Installed On A 24v Vehicle?
Hello Patrick, thanks for reaching out. It is possible to install a brake controller on a vehicle with a 24 volt system. You will need to install a 24v relay to do so. I have included a diagram for you below that shows how the relay would wire to the vehicle and to the brake controller. As long as you follow the diagram, you could install any 12v brake controller, such as the Redarc # RED52VR, which comes with a universal harness.

Hi Dave; the Redarc Tow-Pro Trail Brake Controller # RED94UR can be installed on your 2025 Nissan Frontier. Even without the tow package you still have the tow port under the dash. • What Parts Do I Need to Tow a Trailer with a 2022 Nissan Frontier W/O a Tow Package?
Hey John, For a Class III trailer hitch for your 2022 Nissan Frontier, I recommend using the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver part # e98869.
